BAN THE USE OF BARBARIC FARROWING CRATES
Millions of pigs are being born each year in cruel farrowing crates. The mother pigs are pulled from gestation crates and pushed right into another prison, the farrowing crate, to give birth.
They have babies right there on cold hard floors, packed tightly within inches of other pigs. They have no ability to turn, are barely able to stand, and have no way of acting naturally toward their newborns.
Confined to farrowing crates is contrary to all instincts mother pigs have.
What’s worse, is that no one is stepping up for these mothers! I’m urging you to help get rid of farrowing crates forever. Please take action!
To Mr. Secretary Vilsack,
The beginning of life should be beautiful. But for pigs, it’s miserable and completely unnatural – and in clear violation of the five freedoms.
Mother pigs are forced to give birth in FARROWING CRATES in which they can’t even turn their bodies or even engage with their newborn piglets. It’s heartbreaking – and WRONG.
I urge you to take action and get them BANNED forever.
